A fine violin in the Guarneri style.
This violin is labelled ‘Chardon & Fils, Paris 1903′
The body measures 352mm along the back, 168mm across the upper bouts, 207mm across the lower bouts and is 39mm deep. The back is made from a single piece of well flamed maple and the top is made from spruce with a straight grain.
This violin has a perfect cover of red-brown varnish & rosewood Hill pattern fittings. It is in outstanding condition.
A warm & well-rounded tone typical of the Guarneri style. The sound has a beautiful resonance, easy playability and a good level of complexity. This violin would be suitable for the advanced soloist, chamber musician or tertiary level study.
It is fitted with Pirastro Eudoxa strings which to add a level of warmth & complexity across both the high & low registers.
